The General Directorate of Policy and Planning:

This Directorate undertakes all activities related to the development of policies and plans for the development of Communications and information technology and employ them in all organs of the State, and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, this General Directorate has the following functions and duties:
1. Set plans and policies for the development of Communications and information technology.
2. Contribute to the setting of the information Strategic Plan in Sudan and conduct periodic evaluation on the strategy.
3. Make and modernize the Communications and information technology indicators of economic and social factors.
4. Develop Communications and information technology and participate in setting development priorities and strategic plans as well as appropriate review of the adaptation of the computing projects with the strategic plans.
5. Conduct studies and research related to the Communications and information technology sector and its foreign developments and their impact on economic growth.
6. Identify the economic competitiveness of the Communications and information technology sector.
7. Supervise the development and upgrade of information systems through the competent Ministry units.
8. Periodic review of the reports to evaluate government institutions and agencies in respect of the Internet as well as attention to develop and upgrade it.
